July 1-6, 2025, Henley-on-Thames (ENG)
Dieuwke Fetter, the coxswain of the Dutch women’s eight who has just started a new Olympic cycle, has seen plenty of international regattas! Yet yesterday at Henley, in an interview with the official media, she didn’t hesitate to admit that the 2025 edition of the Henley Royal Regatta — just concluded — felt like an Olympic Games, with all that crowd along the Thames fencing.
And it’s true: an incredible atmosphere on and off the water, and Filippi boats — famously at home on these kinds of stages — thrived. Especially in this one-of-a-kind race format: 2150 meters, head-to-head, with over 17 nations participating.
For the first time ever, Filippi boats won 11 of the 12 major trophies — the traditional headline events. To put it in perspective: if it had been an Olympics, Filippi boats would’ve won every event (5 with the Netherlands, and 1 each with Australia, Croatia, Greece, New Zealand, the USA, and Great Britain), except for the men’s quadruple sculls. In those 12 categories, 50% of Filippi boats made it to the final.
There were also 15 events where 90% of entries came from British clubs. Our presence remained solid, and in two of those — the Diamond Jubilee Challenge and the Prince of Wales Challenge — Filippi boats reached the finals, both times with Marlow Rowing Club.
The final tally? 40% of all medals won — a very positive outcome. This year also marked our on-site support debut, with our technical assistance team working alongside the Filippi UK crew, led by our dealer Paul Willis of WW Marine Service. Everything suggests that Henley Royal Regatta will become another regular fixture in our international calendar.
Several records were set as well, especially in the women’s single sculls (Princess Royal), where reigning European champion Lauren Henry of Great Britain set a new course record — by 7 seconds — while debuting the new F15 Performance shell she’ll use for training ahead of the Shanghai World Championships.
Record matched too by the Australian men’s eight, who beat the Netherlands in the Grand Challenge Cup.
